Culturally Competent Interviewing Skills for Managers

Hire Immigrants Ottawa (HIO) in collaboration with the Kanata North Business Association are pleased to invite you to a complimentary professional development training.

This session is designed to equip employers, people with hiring responsibilities and HR Professionals with practical skills, tips, strategies and tools needed to identify and address communication style and non-verbal issues in interview settings. For example, we will explore how the sending and receiving of messages during an interview can lead to misinterpretations and misconceptions.

Topics covered include:

• Perception – how it affects the interview process;
• Impact of communication styles during interviews;
• Review of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Removing the “Canadian experience” barrier; and
• Strategies for successful hiring.
